Lusitano Celebration Planned for Virginia
Plans are afoot in Virginia for a grand promotion of the
Lusitano horse. Marc Cugnon, a former professional rider
and owner of Sacred Springs Farm is a firm believer in the
versatility of the breed and wants to get this message across
to horse enthusiasts and non-equestrian followers alike.
“It will be a celebration of the Lusitano,” explains Marc, who
was born in Belgium. The Sacred Springs Farm promotion
is using the title “Les Journees Lusitaniennes” borrowed from
the Belgian Lusitano Association, run by Claudine Gillion, who
according to Marc, has made great strides in promoting the
Lusitano in his native country. One of the ways in which she
has achieved this is with an annual exhibition now frequented
in large numbers, having attracted people who Marc says,
“would not normally go to a dressage show.”
