It is with a mixture of sorrow and gratitude that we render our best homage to the extraordinary stallion that was our beloved Xique Xique.

Born in 1980, at the moment when the existence of the famous Quina Stud was coming to an end, he was chosen by Dr Guilherme Borba as the stallion to be used on the remaining Quina mares that were kept by Mr Alfredo Conde, the bullfighter that had previously given a very competent assistance to Dr Manuel Quina.

The political and economical situation in Portugal after the Revolution was not favorable to horse breeding and the difficulties suffered by the Portuguese breeders forced the sale of some outstanding animals while many others were lost by bad handling.

Xique Xique was not an exception and was used in bullfighting when still very young and unprepared and passed from hand to hand until being acquired by the Barata Freixo family.  Our very good friend Joćo Freixo, knowing that we were looking for a Veiga stallion, sold Xique Xique to us in 1988.  At that moment, the present cult for the Quina horses was not yet in place and so the very high prices commanded today  by these extraordinary animals were not then practiced by the market.  So, our happy, fecund and predestined association with Xique Xique began with a lucky strike.

This fabulous stallion gave us  more than one hundred offspring, not permitting the small space available here to list,  even those that won show prizes, so many were them.  Our best homage, that we know he would have greatly appreciated is the publishing of the pages for his male heirs, that will. from now on, assume the continuity of the family line.  We are sure that Xique Xique was already were proud of then all and had he lived longer he would not have had any doubts in transferring them this huge responsibility.  We at Interagro are absolutely sure about the future results.

Dear Xique Xique, good by and thank you very much !
